Rebuild your smile: What to expect

Congratulations – you’ve already embarked on the process by visiting the online “home” of Drs Erick Hosaka and Valerie Cassis. We are glad you’re here and look forward to hearing from you. We encourage you to schedule an appointment at our office as soon as you can. During this appointment, one of our dentists will examine your mouth. Be prepared to discuss your concerns, preferences, and goals. Our dentists also welcome questions! Using information provided by you and collected during this visit, we may recommend:

  • Partial dentures – Made from porcelain, acrylic, and metal, these dentures are color-matched to surrounding teeth and gum tissue. So, they look natural. The dentures are held in place with specialized connectors attached to remaining healthy teeth – a good option for those with a grouping of missing teeth or teeth that need to be extracted.
  • Complete dentures – The concept is much the same as partials; only, with full dentures, we replace all teeth in an upper or lower jaw. The dentures do not connect to the remaining teeth (as there are no teeth to connect to). Instead, they are held in place due to natural suction or with the aid of products such as adhesives. It is critical to have your dentures checked for fit on an ongoing basis. Since tissues shrink and evolve with time, we can adjust the denture, so it continues to fit well.
  • Implant dentures – Dentures supported by implants do not rely on natural suction or denture products for their stability. Instead, the tooth- and gum-colored prosthetic is connected to implants that are placed in the jaw. These implants join to surrounding bone. So, once connected, the denture is “rooted” or firmly stabilized in the jaw by strategically positioned implants. Implants may also be used to replace a single tooth, a few scattered teeth, and many or a group of teeth.

We even offer immediate dentures.  Our dentists may place a temporary or provisional denture immediately after your teeth are extracted. In this way, as tissues heal, you never have to be seen in public without teeth! That also provides an opportunity for you to get accustomed to chewing and speaking with dentures while your permanent appliance is made. The permanent will replace the provisional after tissues have healed and swelling has subsided. You can then enjoy a perfect fit!

Do not wait for problems with worn or ill-fitting dentures or decayed teeth to get worse. Contact us today at (301) 686-5255 to book your visit.
